Introduction

This guide will cover the basics of removing and replacing the Porsche 997.2 Engine Air Filters.

Applicable Models

  • 997.2 Carrera / Carrera 4
  • 997.2 Carrera S / Carrera 4S
  • 997.2 Targa 4 / Targa 4S
  • 997.2 GTS

  1. Locate the filter cover. Using your T25 driver and bent nose pliers/tweezes, remove the eight Torx screws from the filter cover.
    • Locate the filter cover.

    • Using your T25 driver and bent nose pliers/tweezes, remove the eight Torx screws from the filter cover.

    • Carefully remove Mass Air wire loom from airbox. (Illustrated by blue arrows)

    • Be careful not to drop any screws

  2. Each exposed air filter is held at the end with a Torx screw - remove screws using a T20 driver. Once the screws have been removed, grab the filter at the end and gently wiggle it off of the mount.

    • Once the screws have been removed, grab the filter at the end and gently wiggle it off of the mount.

    • Now is a good time to clean any large debris from the filter area .

    • Do not let any debris enter the intake track!

  3. Place new filter onto mount. Some wiggling may be required, as filter is a tight fit with the bottom housing.

    • Screw filter back into the plastic.

    • Reassemble airbox cover and hand tighten all 8 screws.

    • Should be placed on reasonably tight

    • Tighten with care so you do not strip the mounting points in the bottom housing!
