Quick guides on removing and replacing your steering wheel!

I ordered this amazing custom steering wheel from Dallas Custom Steering Wheels and couldn't be happier . The install is super easy as well

  1. Center Steering Wheel & Remove Key from the ignition Using a 10mm wrench, disconnect the positive battery terminal

  2. Insert a 3/16" long allen key to release the airbag spring... the release hole is located on the bottom side of the steering wheel.
    • Insert a 3/16" long allen key to release the airbag spring... the release hole is located on the bottom side of the steering wheel.

    • When inserting the tool into the opening... you will feel some spring tension. Push firmly upwards and the airbag will begin to release its 4 clips

  3. Be certain the cars battery is disconnected before doing this. Otherwise you will get an airbag fault

  4. Using a 12 Point Socket 12MM size.... remove the bolt. Do Not Use a standard Torx socket... you risk damaging the threading.

  5. Using a torx socket... remove the left and right trim Using a delicate pry bar... remove the bottom trim piece. I had the best luck, working from the lowest point of the wheel.

    • There are 2 small metal washers behind the side trim torx screws. Do not drop them!

    • Using a sharpie , mark the center point of the steering shaft spline for reference.

  6. Slide the steering wheel firmly onto the steering shaft spline.  Be certain to center the wheel exactly how you removed it. Apply blue thread locking compound
    • Slide the steering wheel firmly onto the steering shaft spline. Be certain to center the wheel exactly how you removed it.

    • Apply blue thread locking compound

    • Tighten to 37ft lb

    • Install any trim pieces you removed from the old wheel.

  7. Simply reconnect the airbag and push firmly onto springs.
    • Simply reconnect the airbag and push firmly onto springs.

    • Reconnect Battery Terminal

    • Quick Drive will clear any warning lights from the battery disconnect.

    • Enjoy your new steering wheel!
